Paying the Rent

He threw his daughter off a bridge

Joyfully left God’s hands reaching

Trusting the Lord to cleanse his questions

Your joy or sorrow for all eternity depends on

Becoming frail, your death coming suddenly

Listen carefully to the nurses, they may suggest

Struggling to sell sandwiches instead

Reshaping goodbye, these big names

Find a way to speak to you

If your sentences are correct

This is my thank you to the world

Not everything is abounding in corn

Trite and mawkishly sentimental

A soap opera for film

Television can teach, not just act

The objective is to record images

Drawn from my museum collection

Fundraising generates additional investment

The Chinese make things people actually want

And spend as little as possible on rent
